Karin & Oliver find their audience

This week I got this most excellent photo emailed  to me. The picture truly spoke a million words of endorsement. I realized a child’s interest is a valuable trust and I really cherish it. Also, this week Oliver and I traveled to the Florida Delphi Academy where I spent 4 hours reading to the classes and discussing my book. Kids ranging from 3 to about 13 years old gave their interest and comments and well thought out questions in exchange for the story. Several of the older kids had writing projects, journals and drawings to show me  and were interested in publishing their own stories. I wanted them to get the idea that just continuing to take the next step and then the next would lead to a completed project, learning as they went along. They really embraced the idea that a young person can accomplish their goals and they don’t have wait to be “grown up” to do it! I look forward to a continuing friendship as these kids and I share our progress writing and illustrating.

Each kid received a rubber lizard with a tag that said “Oliver is coming”. And since they were all really interested in my progress on the next book, it’s safe to say Oliver is coming back!
