We are back, Oliver & I, from Marco Island. This first book signing trip was a whirlwind of new adventures. The staff and residents of Hideaway Beach were amazing and gracious. They made it so easy for me to concentrate on the kids who were there to enjoy the Family Circus weekend and wanted to know about my book. I am very grateful to this lovely community for making me feel so welcome. Oliver seemed to take it in stride, but I was just floored by the reception the book got from the many children. All through the 2 years I was working on it I imagined what it would be like to have “Oliver the Overachiever” engage and inspire kids, give them some laughs and encourage them to be themselves. It was so much better than I even imagined when 2 little girls sisters came up and thanked me for signing their books the day before. As they were starting to walk away they turned, came back, looked me straight in the eye and said “Thank you ... for writing it... we love it!” In that instant I knew I had found my place in life & felt very, very fortunate.
