About Karin Mesa
I count myself very lucky.
For the past 35 years I’ve been working in partnership with my husband, Julian. Our studio is situated in a one acre garden. From all of our many workspaces we have views of trees, plants, animals and changing weather. If you’d like to see some of our collaborative work you can visit lamanchaglassgardens.com
I began learning jewelry making techniques 10 years ago. The skills I’d built as a designer and illustrator gave me a good foundation to expand on as a jeweler. The mediums I work with are fine silver and transparent vitreous enamels. My ongoing affinity with the play of light on glass is present in my jewelry pieces as it was with our larger glass pieces.
I kiln fire many thin layers of transparent enamel colors onto 99.9% pure silver and as light reflects off the silver and through glass layers a subtle blending and depth come to life.
I feel that communication is a very basic part of art. The watercolor illustrations in my cards and books embrace that concept both in design and purpose. I hope they enhance the messages you want to share.
I’d like to invite you to subscribe to my site. As a subscriber you’ll get first looks at shop updates and special offers.
I’ll let you know the dates of upcoming shows and also dates for scheduled open studio days in case you’re in the area of our Tarpon Springs, Florida studio and would like to visit and see jewelry, books and cards in person. Scroll down if you’d like to sign up.
Nature inspires me everyday.
I hope this is reflected in my work.
